Using Sky Products

Use the scoop provided to measure the correct dose based on the pack instructions. For top-loader, automatic, or semi-automatic machines, add the powder to the detergent drawer rather than directly onto clothes, then load your washing and select the cycle recommended on the garment’s care label.

Troubleshooting: Stains, Residue & Machine Odour

This is usually detergent that hasn’t fully dissolved rather than a true stain. It’s more common with powdered detergents in cold water, when too much detergent is used, or when the machine is overloaded and water can’t circulate properly. Rewashing the item on its own with warm water, or running an extra rinse cycle, will usually clear it.
  • Add powder to the drum or dispenser before loading clothes, rather than on top of them, so it has time to dissolve
  • Avoid overloading the machine — clothes need room to move for the detergent to rinse out fully
  • Use the dosing scoop and stick to the recommended amount for your load size and soil level
  • In very cold water, consider using slightly warmer water or switching to a Sky liquid detergent, which dissolves more easily than powder
These marks are typically caused by liquid detergent or fabric softener that was poured directly onto dry clothing instead of into the dispenser drawer, or that wasn’t fully rinsed away. Always add liquid products to the detergent drawer or dilute in water first, and avoid pouring concentrated liquid directly onto fabric.
Rewash the item on its own with no added detergent, using warm water. For stubborn waxy marks, gently rub a small amount of dish soap into the area with a soft brush before rewashing, then rinse well and air-dry to confirm the mark has lifted before tumble drying.

Treat stains as soon as possible rather than letting them set. Apply a small amount of Sky liquid detergent directly to the stain, gently rub it in, and add the item to your next wash. For tougher or set-in stains, a longer soak before washing can help loosen them.

Machine odour is usually caused by a build-up of detergent, fabric softener, lint, and moisture inside the drum, seals, and detergent drawer over time, not by any single product. Using more detergent than needed, frequent cold washes, and leaving the machine door closed between loads can all make this worse.

● Wipe down and air-dry the rubber door seal and detergent drawer after washing, and leave the door slightly open between loads ● Remove the detergent drawer periodically and rinse away any built-up residue ● Run an empty hot-water cycle every 1–3 months, optionally with a washing machine cleaner or a cup of white vinegar, to clear residue from the drum ● Stick to the recommended dose — using more detergent than needed is one of the most common causes of both residue and odour buildup

Yes, using more than the recommended dose doesn’t mean cleaner clothes. It can leave residue on fabric and inside the machine, and excess product left on damp clothing can develop a sour smell if not fully rinsed. Always measure with the scoop or dosing cap provided.
